FIGHT WITH WIFE OVER REMOTE CONTROL LANDS MAN IN JAIL

A 78-year-old Brooksville man has been charged and jailed after authorities said he fought with his wife over the remote control for the TV.  The suspect, identified as Larry Edward Alexander of 14307 Evermore Street, faces a count of battery on a person over 65 years old. A sheriff's report says he threw a candlestick at his 83-year-old wife when he became upset about changes in the remote control settings by the wife's grandson during a holiday visit.   Alexander reportedly told deputies that he threw the candlestick to get his wife's attention when he was unable to restore the settings.  The report says the wife was not hurt.

ELECTRICAL FIRE DAMAGES MOBILE HOME

No one was hurt Friday in a trailer fire on Orlando Avenue.  A Sheriff's report says Hernando County Fire Rescue was called out to the mobile home at 3419 Orlando Friday night when smoke filled a bedroom of the structure.  Deputies determined no one was left in the home, which was reportedly occupied by Amanda Hampton and her four children.  Firefighters tore down the ceiling in the bedroom, where they found a light fixture hanging from the ceiling.  Fire officials said the blaze appeared to have started in the electrical wiring of the 30-year old trailer, which could have become brittle with age.
